Elks Lodge holds clay shooting competition; registration limited to first 100

ST. GEORGE – The Dixie Elks Lodge #1743 will hold its first clay shooting competition at the Southern Utah Shooting Sports Park, Purgatory Clay Sports venue in Hurricane Nov. 2.

The clay shoot kicks off at 9 a.m. Following the competition, prizes will be awarded for the top shooters and high overall scores at a celebratory dinner at the lodge at 5 p.m. Spectators are welcome to the shoot, but it is recommended that children under age 12 wear hearing protection.

The event will benefit Elks charities and youth activities, including scholarships, the Hoop Shoot, students of the month/year, the Eye Fair, Boy Scout Troop 0509, junior golf and junior bowling.

Registration opens Friday. Only the first 100 registered participants are guaranteed entry to the competition. The registration deadline is Oct. 21. Registration forms are available online, at the Elks Lodge and Purgatory Clay Sports. The cost, depending on the event(s) competitors enter, ranges from $8-$20.
