ST. GEORGE – The driver of a Toyota 4Runner had a close call in the rain on state Route 18 at around 8 a.m. this morning.
The SUV was heading south, just past Snow Canyon State Park near mile marker 6. At the bottom of a hill, the 4Runner began to hydroplane and the driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to roll one time, resting upside-down just a few feet from a steep drop off.
There were no injuries in the accident and the 4Runner was the only vehicle involved. The driver was cited for driving too fast in adverse weather conditions, Sgt. Sam Despain of the St. George Police Department said.
“Fortunately there were no injuries,” said Despain, “when it’s raining and the roads are wet, slow down.”
