In a press release, the Cedar City Police Department said that 27-year-old Brady Matheson was arrested for perpetrating the alleged kidnapping, assault and forcible sexual abuse of an adult woman on Aug. 18.

According to the release, officers responded to a 911 call concerning a sexual assault that had just taken place. The officers arrived and found that the victim had been taken against her will by Matheson.

As the victim arrived at a residence and exited her vehicle, she was approached by Matheson, who took her car keys and began pulling her down the street. The victim fought back and tried to escape.

Matheson took the victim to a nearby high school. While he had the victim detained, he physically and sexually assaulted her, though she was was able to escape and contact police.

Matheson was known to be the suspect at the time of the report and police attempted to get him to turn himself in. He did not turn himself in and investigators worked throughout the week to obtain statements and collect and analyze evidence.

Matheson was located and booked into the Iron County Correctional Facility on felony charges of aggravated kidnapping, forcible sexual abuse, object rape and misdemeanor assault.
