Hurricane man arrested for vehicle theft, assaulting police

HURRICANE – A suspect who fled from police a week ago was found and arrested Friday after an altercation with officers.

While investigating a home involved in a separate incident, a Hurricane City Police officer came across Saxon Stoker, 27, of Hurricane, inside the home. The officer recognized Stoker as a suspect in an incident that occurred approximately a week ago which involved the alleged unlawful possession of a vehicle, Hurricane City Police Sgt. Brandon Buell said in a statement.

Stoker left the home through a window and fled the scene before the officer could apprehend him.

Additional investigation pointed to Stoker having allegedly stolen another vehicle two days prior that had yet to be recovered.

About an hour following Stoker’s evasion, police received a call about a prowler behind a home. The prowler was identified as Stoker. He entered the home and was hiding in one of the rooms when officers received permission to enter. Officers located Stoker and he refused to comply with police orders, Buell said, and “aggressively went toward the officers and resisted arrest.”

Officers used pepper spray to subdue Stoker and took him into custody.

Stoker was booked into the county jail on a second-degree felony vehicle theft charge and multiple misdemeanor charges.

Investigators were able to recover the stolen vehicle in the Cane Beds area of Arizona.
