Red Flag Warning: Critical fire risk in Color Country

SOUTHERN UTAH – The National Weather Service has issued a “Red Flag Warning” in effect from noon to 9 p.m. on Thursday in Color Country for wind and relative low humidity.

Affected area: Fire Weather Zone 495.

Winds: South at 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts over 30 mph.

Relative humidity: Between 10 and 15 percent.

Impacts: Critical fire conditions expected to develop as dry, fine fuels combine with gusty winds and low relative humidity.

Precautionary and preparedness actions: A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
