MINERSVILLE – Firefighters have made significant headway against the lightning-caused Black Mountain wildfire according to the latest update from Color County Interagency Fire Management. The fire has reached 4,566 acres and is presently 80 percent contained. Full containment is expected by Saturday evening if current conditions persist.
The Chalk Hollow, Maple Springs, Black Mountain and the Camel Hollow roads remain closed for now, and one cabin remains threatened.
The fire is located three miles southeast of Minersville and is burning in both Beaver and Iron counties.
Nearly 300 people from many different agencies are currently battling the fire with a myriad of resources, including air tanker support.
Two firefighters were transported to the hospital Wednesday for dehydration and heat exhaustion. They are both expected to make a full recovery. No other injuries have been reported in connection to the fire.
Smoke from a fire near Las Vegas may impact Southern Utah as the south west wind influence continues on Friday and through the weekend.
