Man arrested on Old Highway 91; drugs, intent to distribute

ST. GEORGE – An Ivins man was arrested by the Washington County Drug Task Force Monday after being found unresponsive in his vehicle on Old Highway 91.

St. George Police Capt. Kyle Whitehead said a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy who was on Old Highway 91 found a vehicle on the side of the road by the Gunlock turn-off, near the Shivwits reservation.

The deputy inspected the vehicle and found a man in the driver’s seat who was later identified as Travis Farnsworth, 41, of Ivins, inside. Farnsworth was initially described as unresponsive and likely impaired.

The deputy called in the task force K-9 unit. Whitehead said the dog found approximately five ounces of meth, four grams of cocaine and some heroin.

Whitehead said Farnsworth was on his way back from Las Vegas where he is alleged to have purchased narcotics to sell in Washington County, and that the task force had suspected him of alleged drug dealing for awhile now.

The man was arrested without incident.

He was also charged with two class B misdemeanors and one class A misdemeanor for drug possession and drug paraphernalia.
