ST. GEORGE – On Saturday, young athletes will compete in the 2013 Virgin River Skimboard Classic, sponsored by the City of St. George.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., participants will compete for prizes in the Open, 16-18, 13-15, 10-12 and 9-and-under age divisions.
Competitors can preregister for $20 by calling the St. George Recreation Center at 435-627-4560 or online. Day-of registration is also available for $25, though pre-registration guarantees an event t-shirt.
The event will be held at The Waterfall, a popular skimboarding spot along the Virgin River. There are no wild waves, just flat sands and calm waters ideal for the sport.
