UPDATE 7 p.m. This Wind Advisory has been cancelled.
SOUTHERN UTAH – The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory in effect from noon to 9 p.m. today with precautions especially for high profile vehicles.
• Affected area: West central and southwest Utah including the cities of Delta, Fillmore, Beaver, Cedar City and Milford.
• Winds: South-southwest 25-35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
• Timing: Developing midday and lasting through the evening.
• Impacts: Gusty winds will likely cause areas of blowing dust which could limit visibilities below a mile at times. Strong crosswinds could cause travel difficulties especially for high profile vehicles on west to east corridors such as U.S. Route 6 and state Route 21. Wind sensitive operations may be affected.
Precautionary/preparedness actions: A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Motorists in the advisory area should be prepared for sudden gusty crosswinds which can make driving difficult.
