Firehouse Subs rolls out its grand opening St. George

ST. GEORGE – Adding to Southern Utah’s casual fast food restaurant choices is Firehouse Subs, located at 15 South River Road in St. George, which will hold its grand opening Monday and feature a special “Happy Hour”.

The St. George location is the first Firehouse Subs franchise owned by Andy and Holly Yergensen. It features an authentic firehouse setting based on the company’s founding family’s decades of fire and police service; this location is decorated with firefighter memorabilia from the City of St. George Fire Department and a custom, hand-painted mural of the very first St. George City Fire Department ladder truck with the iconic Red Rocks canyon in the background.

On Monday, Firehouse Subs will host a happy hour from 6-8 p.m. during which guests will receive a free drink with any purchase from the first Coca-Cola Freestyle machine in Utah.

The restaurant’s claim to fame is for steaming its premium meats and cheeses piled high atop toasted sub rolls and served “Fully Involved” with fresh produce.

Firehouse Subs’ Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain, offers 120+ sparkling and still beverage brands. The sleek, stylish unit is touch-screen operated with regular and low-calorie beverage brands, many exclusive to Coca-Cola Freestyle. Guests choose from numerous possibilities many never before marketed in the United States. Choices include trademark brands such as Caffeine-Free Diet Coke with Lime, Fanta Peach, Minute Maid Light Orange Lemonade and the top-selling noncarbonated fountain drink, Cherry Lime-Aid, an exclusive original recipe by Firehouse Subs, served with fresh squeezed lime.

Customer favorites include the “Hook & Ladder” piled high with smoked turkey and Virginia honey ham smothered with Monterey jack cheese; and the “New York Steamer,” inspired by New York delicatessens, combining corned beef brisket and pastrami topped with melted provolone.  All large Specialty Subs boast a half-pound of meat. Other top sellers include the “Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket,” Italian and “Firehouse Meatball” subs.
