WASHINGTON COUNTY – Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah is seeking two low-income families for its next two homes. Families are chosen on their need for decent housing, their ability to make payments on an affordable no-profit, no-interest mortgage, and their willingness to be active partners with Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah.

Interested applicants must attend a mandatory application meeting at 7 p.m. on June 13. One of the families chosen must be a veteran’s, as Habitat is partnering with local veterans groups to build a home for a service-disabled veteran or spouse.

“We are honored to work alongside local servicemen and the community to build a home for someone that has served and sacrificed for our country,” Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah Executive Director Michael Gburski said.

Through the use of volunteer labor and donations of money and material from the community, Habitat is able to provide low-income families in Washington County an affordable place to live and raise a family.

The selected families will be required to invest “sweat equity” hours into the construction of the homes and make regular mortgage payments. The program offers deserving families a hand-up and an opportunity to improve their lives. The program’s primary goal is to provide affordable housing for a low-income family that is functional, safe and easy to maintain.
