WASHINGTON CITY – This Saturday, the Washington County Democratic Party Organizing Convention will be held and new party officers will be elected for the coming term.
The convention will be held Saturday at the Washington City Community Center, located at 350 North Community Center Drive in Washington City. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. for registration and refreshments; the convention will begin at 2.
Utah Democratic Party Chair Jim Dabakis will serve as keynote speaker, delivering a presentation called “Successes and Challenges of the Utah Democratic Party.” County party office candidates will also be introduced, along with new county party bylaws. All interested community residents are invited to attend for free.
This is a great opportunity to meet with Democrats from all over the county and learn about the status of the party in Southern Utah. Democratic buttons and stickers will be available for a donation.
The candidates for county party offices are Dorothy Engelman, chair, Robert Maloney, vice chair, Katie Madsen, treasurer, and Randy Thomson, secretary. Additional nominations may be made from the floor.
On Monday, the Democrats of Southern Utah Luncheon will be held at the Best Western Abbey Inn; reservations and more information can be found by calling 435-628-2841.
