ST. GEORGE – Just before 4 p.m., Wednesday, members of the St. George Police Department and the St. George Fire Department responded to a collision on Main Street  near 300 South in St. George.

A sedan, carrying two people, traveling northbound attempted to turn around in the middle of the street and, according to St. George Police Capt. Jerry Tischner, entered the path of the motorcycle, causing the accident.

“We arrived on scene, and it looked as though the motorcycle had hit the side of the car,” Tischner said. “And it bent the frame of the motorcycle onto (the riders’) right leg. We cut the bar off to relieve the pressure and take his foot out.”

The motorcycle driver was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance, though was described as not being seriously injured.

Speed was not believed to be a factor causing the collision.

The driver, who was cited by police, and the passenger of the car declined to comment on the accident.

It does not surprise me. U-turns are crazy here. I’ve seen people make U-turns in some dangerous places.

I agree with you Mr. White. I rather go around the block than making a U-Turn. Penalties for U-Turns should increase.

People around here drive soo crazy, I can’t tell you how many accidents we ‘almost’ get into on a daily basis, it’s NUTS. Glad this time the motorcyclist was ok, people PAY attention, its the season for motorcyclists.
