ST. GEORGE – The Heritage Writers Guild, the Southern Utah chapter of the League of Utah Writers, is sponsoring a writing boot camp workshop for aspiring authors on May 18.
The workshop will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Vista Ridge Estates Community Building, located at 1331 North Dixie Downs Road in St. George.
Poet, short story writer and novelist Jack Remick will serve as keynote speaker. In 2012, the first two volumes of Remick’s “California Quartet” series, entitled “The Deification” and “Valley Boy,” were published by Coffeetown Press. The following two volumes, “The Book of Changes” and “Trio of Lost Souls,” will be released later this year. He is also the author of “Blood, A Novel,” published by Coffeetown in 2011.
Additionally, several Heritage Writers Guild members will deliver presentations, including “Your Brain is a Playground: Creative Thinking” by Barbara Funke, “Shadowing: Developing Living Characters” by Traci McDonald and “Making Stories Come to Life” by Jon Thompson. Lunch will be included. A complete schedule for the day can be found here.
Registration for the event costs $30 for League of Utah Writers or Heritage Writers Guild members, $40 for the general public and $15 for high school or college students with valid student ID. All participants must register online before the event.
