Police arrest Cedar City man for possession of stolen vehicle

WASHINGTON – Police arrested a Cedar City man in Washington for possession of a stolen vehicle Tuesday.

Ed Kantor, Washington City Police public information officer, said an officer patrolling the area of 100 East Telegraph Street when he observed a vehicle that appeared to have an illegal license plate sticker. A record check of the vehicle showed it to be reported stolen out of Cedar City.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver,  an 18-year-old Cedar City man, was detained pending further investigation. The driver was also found to be in possession of evidence relating to other crimes reported in the Cedar City area. Cedar City Police were notified and responded to take possession of the vehicle.

The 18-year-old male was arrested without incident and booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility for possession of the stolen vehicle and other vehicle-related charges. His bail currently stands at $15,440.
