Pirate Cove Pizza will offer a full menu including flat bread pizza, deep dish pizza, garlic knots with cheese fondue dipping sauce, desserts and more. Kids specials start at $4.49 which includes free game tokens; various pizza and entrée specials will run throughout the two-week grand opening. ST. GEORGE – Pirates once again invade St. George with the opening of Pirate Cove Pizza at 1091 North Bluff, Suite 801, in the same location as the former Pirate Island Pizza which closed in 2011. After the building sat empty for two years, a new ownership group, Black Beard Foods LLC, saw the potential and the opportunity to bring the operation back to Southern Utah with many enhancements.
Under new ownership, Pirate Cove Pizza hopes to bring a missing element to the Southern Utah entertainment landscape.
“Our owners are local and care about this community,” said Lisa Boulet, manager of Pirate Cove Pizza. “They realized that St. George needs an establishment like this where families can come and experience something truly out of the ordinary and enter a new world of Pirates, ships, hidden treasures and mystery.”
Pirate Cove Pizza will be an important part of the community already adding more than 75 employees with more being added prior to opening.
Pirate Cove Pizza offers an experience unlike anything else in the region. The restaurant is one of the largest in the state at just over 17,000 square feet and features a life-size pirate ship, dark caves, palm trees, forts, tiki settings and a serene enchanted forest. Each one of the features comes alive with full audio and animatronics similar to that of a theme park including talking skeletons, monkeys, birds and a pirate fight scene complete with firing cannons.
“In addition to the experience, one of the things we set out to do was to provide incredible food services so while children are playing the arcade, parents can enjoy an incredible meal,” said Janny Caldwell, also a manager of Pirate Cove Pizza. “We have really focused on the quality of the food and will be introducing items new to Southern Utah such as flat bread pizza, true deep dish pizza and meatball sliders.”
The menu will feature delicious pizza offerings including deep dish, flat bread and traditional pizzas. Other menu items include sandwiches, pastas, salads, rolls, soups and desserts.
Pirate Cove Pizza can accommodate parties of up to 200 individuals in its upstairs dining room and can seat over 380 guests. A grand opening is scheduled beginning May 7 and will run for 2 weeks during which guests can enter to win pizza for a year with no purchase necessary.

Glad to see a new locally owned restaurant opening in STG. I hope they succeed and inspire others to bring more restaurants and different menus to town. I think this is the second pizza/pasta joint to open in the last 30 days.

They should also take care to pay their landlord and not cheat the taxing authorities which were also problems that doomed the prior pirate establishment.
I think the prices will be fair this year, and the food quality is going to be so much better than before. Also you all must remember this is brand new owners they have nothing to do with what happened with the last owners, tax cheating not paying landlord whatever rumors there were, everyone is new and trying to bring back something exciting and fun to st george which this town desperately needs.

Just went there with the family the other day, and the food was rather lackluster – certainly nothing to write home about. I had the meatball sliders and they were way too huge for the greasy garlic roll “bun” they were served on. Each one fell apart as you tried to eat it; meat was bland and dry.

Wait staff was polite but slow; didn’t come around to fill drinks nearly often enough – they’d be better just to leave a carafe of water if they’re not going to come around every 5 minutes to refill.

The arcade had many broken machines, tickets were running out and only one busy attendant was around at the counter and not available to come out and replenish them. The prizes at the counter were extra cheap and cheasy, even for typical fare at such places.

All-in-all, not someplace I will ever bring the family to regularly. Perhaps every several months when the kids have a hankering to see indoor trees and animal sounds and driving to the Rainforest Cafe in Vegas just isn’t practical. Yes, I’d rather drive two hours and spend the gas and money there than go to Pirate Cove Pizza again.

One of the ways the new owners can turn a profit is to better utilize the gift shop area. The offerings at Pirate Island Pizza were always disappointing. They would be smart to offer a lot of varied items (instead of 10 million t-shirts) with low to high price points. Every kid leaving the place is going to want to buy something. I can’t believe there weren’t ever swords available, or the shiny gem rocks like you can buy in other places for $5-6/bag.
They would do well to pattern the new gift shop, if there is one, after the one outside of the “Pirates of the Carribbean” ride. That place is always packed. Everyone wants pirate loot. Each time I walked through the gift shop at the Pirate Island Pizza place… I kept hoping and expecting to have that same experience and excitement as at Disneyland, and I was always extremely disappointed.
For the boys: varied swords & scabbards, different style pirate hats including captain’s hats, scarf & earring set, hooks, eye patches, pirate coins & booty, different types and sizes of pirate flags, treasure maps, treasure chests.
For the girls: jewels & sparkly rocks you can buy in bulk (fill up a bag), jewelry, pirate items in pink & crystals, mermaid stuff.
It seemed like the last owners focused on selling to adults, and they COMPLETELY missed the boat.
I am so excited for this! My kids absolutely loved the first one for the idea and atmosphere. Hoping this one is even better! Can’t wait to try this out! 🙂 good luck pirates cove!
Unfortunately the food is not very good… The games aren’t as “little kid friendly” either. We were sadly disappointed. Hopefully as they are open longer, it will get better.
I’m happy to see this place open again, but I must say 2 things that I hope the owner and management team will see here on this page…The pizza really sucks, there’s no flavor at all – very bland, worse than Pizza Factory in blandness, and 2, the tickets you win from scoring high points on any of the games is totaly jipped, especially in comparing rivalry, Fiesta Fun Center. I took my nephews there a few days ago and while the atmosphere has it going on, even the service was okay, but as far as everythig else, I was very disappointed.
I’m still not satisfied, I have to agree with Big Bob. Your business has got to change its recipe and allow more tickets to dipense from the games when winning, period. No offense, I hope your business improves and makes it, but it’s time we see a Chuck E. Cheese come into town!
