After months of planning and preparation the Spring Meltdown by B&C Entertainment was cancelled, Saturday, due to insurance issues; but thoughts are hopeful as the popular event company maintains their momentum, as well as a loyal fan base.

Many fans from the St. George area know B&C by their event at Sand Hollow Reservoir last summer, where they orchestrated skim boarding and wake boarding events, music systems, and even a people-launching “blob”.
Founders Brian Cameron and Colton Brockbank worked with people from St. George Motocross, the City of St. George, and local sponsors to setup an event that would kick off the summer for St. George residents and bring fans from surrounding areas.
The Spring Meltdown
The meltdown event, although attracting the same demographic, was planned to be slightly different, and contain Nitro Circus style events. Scheduled at the St. George Motocross Park, the same venue as the Fall Fuel Fest, the area is no stranger to these types of extreme sports events.
“It all has to be beneficial to those involved,” co-owner and founder Brian Cameron said. “We raise the safety level and lower the risk so anybody can try these things.”
This particular event was designed to create safe environments for extreme sports athletes to attempt bigger jumps on a mega-ramp, normally only available to the professionals due to the inherent danger. The events also provide friends and families the opportunity to watch these sports, enjoy the warming weather, and network with other athletes and company representatives.
To the owners’ chagrin, the Spring Meltdown came to an untimely end.

The Untimely End
The constant drive to create unique events, however, also created unique insurance complications, which ultimately brought Saturday’s event to a halt. Despite the abrupt ending to the event, hundreds of ticket-buyers were reimbursed, and founders Cameron and Brockbank increased efforts to make future events successful.
In commenting about the cancelation of Saturday’s event Brockbank said he has hope for upcoming events, despite this minor setback.
“This isn’t what we’re all about,” co-owner and founder Colton Brockbank said. “What we are about is helping give back, and that is what the future is going to be.”
What’s Next For B&C?
On July 27 B&C Entertainment will be holding an event called One Night For Haiti, with the goal of raising half a million dollars through sponsors, donations and ticket sales. These funds will then be donated to relief efforts for people in Haiti. The event will include multiple bands, Nitro Circus athletes, and extreme sports similar to past events.

What kind of reporting is this? This looks like the quality of journalism that i would expect in a high school news paper. Why do you report that the event was cancelled due to insurance issues, but give no details. Did the city of St. George require something so outrageous that it was to costly? Was the issue that no insurance company would grant a policy? Ask some questions and give us some answers. Don’t write a article the leaves us with questions unanswered.
Paul, your questions are reasonable – our reporter did pursue them with the owners and was simply told that it was their own insurer that shut them down for not obtaining specific coverage for some of the nontraditional elements of the event (paraphrased explanation). I hope that helps, it is as specific in answer as we were able to obtain.
