ST. GEORGE – Emergency responders were dispatched to River Road in the Fort Pierce area of St. George after a car impacted the back of a semitrailer Thursday afternoon.

St. George Police Capt. Michael Giles said a passenger vehicle was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed near 3424 River Road.  The vehicle hit the back of a parked semitrailer and flipped over.

The driver, an 29-year-old male and the single occupant of a white Honda Accord, was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center with “possibly fatal injuries,” Giles said.

Madelyn Reynolds witnessed the crash. She said she was about to get into her car and saw the accident happen after stopping to pick up her dropped phone.

“I dropped my phone and I saw a car coming and he hit the back of the semi truck going probably 65-ish,” she said, “and his car started to flip and he landed right here – and it looks like he started to seizure out, and it was really bad.”

Giles said the crash is currently under investigation and additional details will be released as they become available. He said an accident re-creation team was on scene to help determine how fast the vehicle may have been traveling.

Detectives were also on hand, Giles said, to investigate if anything of a criminal nature had taken place that was related to the accident. An “attempt to locate” call had been issued earlier in the day for a certain vehicle or person; but Giles said it was too early to tell if that call and the driver in this crash are connected.

I drove-by this accident during the investigation. It reminded me of a movie line where someone threatened to “turn your entrails into your extrails…”

I have never seen a car so jacked up. The engine and front dash were pushed through the front seat to the back seat.

This is about one mile north of Gold Cross Ambulance Headquarters in Bloomington Hills Fort Pearce industrial Park. I hope they found it alright.

Thak god for that! Imagine if Dixie was still “serving”? They’d slowly respond from across the valley somewhere.

He killed himself in front of his ex girl friends house to try to prove some kind of point. He had been calling her all morning telling her he was going to do it. He has childern so the only point he proved is that he is selfish.

Ha! Knight’s Tale!! Love it Ed!

I live at the address where the accident occurred. I talked with my neighbor who ran over to see if he could help, when he got to the car there was a strong smell of liquor, and empty beer cans strewn about in what was left of the car. When he saw the driver, he realized that removing him was not going to be possible, and left that for the professionals. What a scary sight, I can’t believe the guy is alive at all.

I personally know this young man and he is not a drinker. As a member of his family we ask that everyone please refrain from spreading rumors and hearsay. If you want to help then please pray for us at this time.

  • Big Don April 25, 2013 at 8:17 pm

At least he didn’t kill somebody else. I guess we can all be thankful for that.

    • Joanna April 26, 2013 at 9:55 am

Whoa, no kidding Don! What kind of disregard for others’ safety must a person have to be going SIXTY-FIVE on that road?! Drinking or not, texting or not, that is WAY too fast!! Thank heavens no one else was hurt. Wishing a full recovery for the driver!

  • eddo April 25, 2013 at 8:49 pm

I know the guy who was in this accident and he was not drinking any alcohol. He isn’t a drinker. So please don’t believe the previous comment. Respect his family enough to not post something you dont know is true.

  • cheryl April 25, 2013 at 9:00 pm

I am the mother of this young man first he dose not drink second he has the biggest heart in the world and would do anything for anyone. Their are those people that take advantage of people and break their hearts he has been hurt inside for days. please don’t say mean things he has lots of people who love him very much

    • Christy April 25, 2013 at 10:31 pm

Cheryl…my thoughts and prayers are with you, your son and all those involved! May he receive the help he needs to make it through this time!!

      • cheryl April 25, 2013 at 11:31 pm

Thank you to Christy he is my only child and hope he gets the help he needs and he has a lot of people who care.

  • Dan Lester April 25, 2013 at 9:58 pm

Sarah, I have no clue whether the young man was drinking or not. But I can tell you that many “non drinkers” actually imbibe. There’s an old joke about “when you’re going fishing why do you always take two buddies with you instead of one? The answer is if you take just one, he’ll drink all your beer” There is a great deal of truth in that, and as a recovering alcoholic, I could offer a multitude of stories about such people from my own life.

Regardless of the alcohol question, something happened here. Possibilities include phoning, texting, drinking, suicide would top the list for me.

  • Katie April 25, 2013 at 10:51 pm

I am sorry to hear of this accident but even more sorry to hear that people are more concerned with him drinking or not. This was probably a very terrifying event for this young man and also his family. Maybe we should all be more concerned for them and if they are ok regardless of the cause. People make mistakes either by choice or accident.

    • cheryl April 25, 2013 at 11:28 pm

Thank you Katie for being understanding to the pain of others. Life is harder for some people and don’t understand that. My only child I have watch him hurt for years but god was with him today and hopefully he can gets the help he needs now. Thank you again Cheryl

My daughter and her family lives in the apartments across from this accident. They have been praying for this young man and his family. No matter the reason, prayers are needed for all involved. Psalm 46:1

People. Put. Down. The. … Phone. And. Drive. This is River Road, not River Freeway!

  • Concened April 26, 2013 at 9:32 am

Any update on this young man? Did they have to send him to Vegas or SLC?

  • Big Don April 26, 2013 at 10:22 am

Stop whining about how “wonderful” this idiot is/was. He is/was a potential killer. Probably has been coddled all his life by mommy, and never made to understand that he is responsible for his own actions.
If this post seems cruel and unfeeling. . . . . .TOUGH.
Everyone who was driving in that area, at that time was a potential victim of this “wonderful” son/friend. Sorry, but I just don’t feel one bit of sympathy for him, or for his enablers. His enablers are just as guilty as he is, actually.
So don’t come on here looking for my sympathy. It is not going to be there at all.
I lost my best friend to a punk driver who was so stupid he should have been drowned at birth.

    • Russ April 26, 2013 at 1:26 pm

You have problems…. Your problems seem to start with mommy not loving you enough. Have sympathy for this young man. I have seen accidents like this first hand and I am amazed he is still alive. Life knocked him down and the last thing he needs is insensitive people like “little dong” up here insulting him and his family. I am usually possitive guy and wish no harm to others but I will make an exception to you. I hope you have to go through exactly what his family is going through and I hope I am there to see it so I can rub it in your face and trash talk them all day and night. You sir, are the lowest form of life I know.

      • Big Don April 26, 2013 at 2:20 pm

Yes, I have problems. I have problems with sorry *** people who feel that they are the only ones in the world that matter. I lost my best friend to a dip wad like that. So don’t try to preach to me about what this jerk needs. If he recovers, he needs prison time, or maybe a nuthouse. I have absolutely no sympathy for him.

  • a brown April 26, 2013 at 1:48 pm

big don is a big idiot

    • Big Don April 26, 2013 at 2:21 pm

That may be true. Never claimed to be a rocket surgeon. 😛

  • ld April 26, 2013 at 2:03 pm

Big Don, it is people like you that keep hate spreading like wild fire. I would guess you wouldn’t say these things to someones face, but behind a message board you are just fine with saying cruel things. And if you would say these things to someones face I hope you are fine with someone doing it to you when you face a personal tragedy of your own.Hate begets hate and I will not lower myself to the level on which you speak so I will simply pray that one day you can see how badly your words can hurt someone.I am appalled by most of the comments I see on this site.I don’t see how a place that is associated with a strong religous culture has the most hateful things being said on every web site around here.I don’t see the level of hate this bad anywhere else. Its a shame.
