ST. GEORGE – Dixie State University is visited this week by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights activist, Erin Davies, and her “Fagbug.”
Davies, herself a former hate crime victim, is the founder of the Fagbug Project and star of the award-winning documentary of the same name. After Davies’ Volkswagen Beetle was vandalized with the word “fag” in 2007, she embarked on a cross-country educational tour, traveling to 41 states and Canada and driving over 55,000 miles to create public dialogue about the issue of hate crimes. In 2009, with generous funding from Volkswagen Group of America and HD Radio, Davies produced a documentary film about her experience.
Monday
The DSU Gay-Straight Alliance will hold a free public screening of the documentary on Monday at 3:30 p.m in the Gardner Center, Conference Room D.
Thursday
Davies will address Dixie State University’s weekly “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” convocation series in its historical “Unheard Voices” series. The forum will begin at noon in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSU campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
The “Fagbug,” Davies’ Beetle, will be on display at the Gardner Center on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Probably only for “certain people.” The rest of us would be in deep doo-doo for saying it.
We need more things like this here. I have never seen so much hate in one city. Everyone deserves love and respect.
