MESQUITE, Nev. – In the course of investigating the April 13 death by stabbing of Mesquite resident Michael Eldridge, Mesquite detectives discovered a second body and made a second arrest this afternoon.
Eldridge, 50, died Saturday night after a knife attack. The attack occurred in the area of Mesquite Boulevard and Sandhill Boulevard. Mesquite Fire and Rescue took Eldridge to the Mesa View Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his wounds.
In investigating the first homicide, detectives received information that there was another victim. After obtaining a warrant and searching an East Mesquite Boulevard residence, police found the body of an adult man which, according to Mesquite Police Department’s published statement, was concealed in the basement of the residence. Police are deferring release of the victim’s name until the Clark County Coroner’s office issues its autopsy report.
A 43-year-old male, of Mesquite, was taken into custody by Mesquite police on Saturday evening and is now being held in connection with both deaths.
Monday afternoon, Mesquite Police officers arrested a 30-year-old Hurricane man in connection with the death of the second victim.
Note: Persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
