North to northeast winds of 20-30 mph with gusts in excess of 50 mph will increase out of the north and northeast around midday. These stronger winds will continue outside of St. George through Wednesday morning and are expected through the north to south canyons in Utah’s Dixie.

Travel and wind sensitive operations will be impacted.

A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31 mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Motorists in the advisory area should be prepared for sudden gusty crosswinds which can make driving difficult.

The National Weather Service has cancelled the winter storm warning for heavy snow and strong winds. “Heavy snowfall has ended but periodic snow showers will continue through this afternoon with little to no additional accumulation,” according to the NWS notice. “This said gusty northerly winds will continue to maintain winter-like conditions into this evening.”
