Dixie State Chamber Orchestra kicks off spring concert season

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State University’s new musical ensemble, the Chamber Orchestra, will begin DSU’s spring concert season with a performance on Friday.

Under the direction of DSU Director of Strings, Dr. Paul Abegg, the energetic group will perform six compositions: Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Four Violins,” “Variation of Dives” and “Lazarus” by Vaughan Williams, “Adagio for Strings by Samuel Barber, Grieg’s “Holberg Suite” and “Plink Plank Plunk” by Leroy Anderson.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Dolores Dore Eccles Fine Arts Center Concert Hall on the DSU campus. General admission tickets will be available at the door for $5; $1 for DSC faculty and students with valid identification. Patrons may also purchase tickets prior to the performance at the Eccles Fine Arts Center or Avenna Center box offices or online.
