Two pedestrians collaterally injured in two-car collision

ST. GEORGE – A two-vehicle accident on Dixie Drive injured two pedestrians, who were transported to the hospital Monday morning.

In his statement issued this morning, Officer Derek Lewis, of the St. George Police Department, said that shortly after 9 a.m., Monday, officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on Dixie Drive in St. George.

One of the vehicles rear-ended the other, causing the front vehicle to veer off the right side of the roadway.  This car then struck two pedestrians walking down the sidewalk.

One of the pedestrians was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center by medical helicopter in critical condition.  The other was transported by ground ambulance in serious condition. The drivers of both vehicles were also transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

At this time the St. George Police accident reconstruction team is investigating the accident.  More information will be released as it is provided.
