TELEVISION – “The Bible” an epic five-week, 10-hour television mini-series premiered tonight on the History Channel at 6 p.m. For those who missed the 6 p.m. airing of the first episode, it encores at 10 p.m.

The mini-series comes from Emmy-Award winning husband and wife team, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey.
Promotions state that for two hours each Sunday night, millions of viewers will see the Bible come to life in a way never before seen. The final episode of the series will air on Easter Sunday, March 31, and will feature the death and resurrection of Jesus.

To help ensure the accuracy of the miniseries, many Christian scholars served as advisors and hundreds of Christian leaders have given their endorsement.

“In terms of importance, nothing we’ve ever done, not Touched By An Angel, not Survivor, not The Voice, not The Apprentice, none of this could possibly compare to ‘The Bible,'” Burnett said. This is not a TV show to us.

The series will also air Monday nights at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Lifetime, and likewise again on Wednesday nights on The History Channel.
