ST. GEORGE – A power outage was reported in east side of St. George Saturday that lasted for roughly 30 minutes.
The outage began around 6 p.m. A spokesman for the City of St. George Energy Services Department said the outage was caused by faulty underground power lines at Dixie State University, creating an open circuit in the line that knocked out power to many of homes and businesses along River Road. Two work crews were dispatched to fix the problem.
Traffic lights along River Road between 700 South and St. George Boulevard were also affected, impacting traffic for a time.
Power was restored to the majority of the affected area by 7 p.m.

Someone from the SGPD was directing traffic at 700 South but none at the BLVD. I thought people did really well considering.
