ST. GEORGE – The weather’s great and the grass is even green, no small feat for February. Those are just two of the many reasons some of the most competitive soccer in America is being played right here in Southern Utah this weekend.

The Utah Youth Soccer Association has landed its Presidential Cup tournaments in the Southern Utah area, as well as in Mesquite, Nev., Feb. 14-18, with the exception of Sunday. The Presidential Cup tournaments land on President’s Day and the weekend prior every year since 2011.

The team players are grouped into an age division which ranges from nine to 14-years-old. This year 140 teams in St. George, with 80 more in Mesquite, Nev., have registered to compete for the 17 trophies available to seven boys’ teams and six girls’ teams in St. George and four teams down in Mesquite, Nev. where all the 12 through 14-year-old kids compete.
