CEDAR CITY – The police have released the name of a person of interest possibly involved in the shooting in Cedar City Friday.
When responding to a call involving a potentially suicidal individual around 2 p.m., Friday, police encountered 52-year-old Thad Robertson outside the home involved in the incident. Robertson told police a person in the home had been shot and another had a gun.
Police entered the home and discovered a deceased adult male with multiple gunshot wounds, and an adult female who had also suffered an apparent gunshot wound. She was ultimately flown to Murray via Life Flight and is listed in critical condition.
Police detained Robertson at the scene and took him into custody. He was subsequently booked into jail on counts of possession of a dangerous weapon, a third degree felony; possession of amphetamines, a second degree felony; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor.
Robertson is considered a person of interest in the fatal shooting that is now being called a homicide.
Cedar City Police department continues to investigate the incident.
Difficulties locating next of kin have delayed the release of the victim’s names.
Note: Persons involved are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
