Grand Canyon accepting applications for upcoming artist-in-residence programs

GRAND CANYON, Ariz.Grand Canyon National Park’s artist-in-residence program is now accepting artist applications for the upcoming North and South Rim program seasons. Seasons run May through October on the North Rim, and October through September 2014 on the South Rim.

The program welcomes applications from professional artists working in all genres and traditions. In exchange for three weeks in-residence, artists are required to host three hour-long, family-friendly presentations of their own design while at the Canyon, plus one presentation in their home community after residency. Living accommodations are provided for free, but there is no stipend for being an artist-in-residence.

Applications must be submitted online via WESTAF CaFE, which allows artists to upload work samples and answer specific questions about their work. Artists can apply for both the North and South Rim programs; there is a $30 application fee for each. Before applying, artists should take the time to explore the park web site and familiarize themselves with the application and park themes.

Applications will close at midnight on March 1.
