ST. GEORGE – Last Saturday a St. George couple was exploring open land in the Arizona Strip when they came across something wrapped in a blanket half buried into the ground.
Matt Telford and his girlfriend, Tawnia Stephan, were an hour south of River Road in St. George headed toward Seegmiller Mountain in Mohave County, Ariz., when they discovered what looked like a the body at about 5:30 p.m.
A body with no head, wearing a shirt and wrapped in what appeared to be a blanket, was sticking out of the earth, and Telford said he and his girlfriend were alarmed. He said he approached the body and looked inside the caved-in ribs and saw a pool of blood. He said the body and the fabric around it seemed to be a few weeks old.
After returning home Telford reported the found body to the St. George City Police Department around 9:20 p.m. and later received a call from the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office asking him to explain the whereabouts of the body.
The Sheriff’s Office located the body, as described by Telford, and determined it was that of a deer.

Despite the outcome, Trish Carter, public information officer for Mohave County Sheriff said that reporting a discovery of this sort was the right thing to do. She said the investigating officer was unable to determine why a deer’s body would be wrapped in clothing and buried or whether the deer was taken legally or otherwise during a deer hunt.

A dead deer wearing a T-shirt. Well, that is strange.
I keep trying to explain to the deer population that they really need to pay their drug debts to the cartel. I’m starting to think that they don’t understand me.
This headline and article were confusing. Is it an animal or a human? Deer or dead.. seems like a typo. Don’t sensationalize the issue, just report please.
The article does not emphasize that it is a DEER head. Sorta an important fact. Is this really news? Do you know how many dead animal carcasses are out in the desert? Dumb reporting.
@ anon its facetime Bro they didnt specify it was a deer head but they did emphasize that it was headless. so no head in this equation, but a body with no head was found that did belong to a deer. Reporting isn’t dumb you just need to learn the equation and plug the facts in the article together and you will see the light with that I bid you adieu good sir Deer +no head = deer with no head na mean dogg
Was the t-shirt the deer was wearing blaze orange?
Typical overreaction of numb skull people. Look for a few seconds yourself and you have seen it was an animal. The things people call the government for!
