Cedar rolls past last place Hurricane Tigers

The first-place Cedar Redmen had no problem powering past the last-place Hurricane Tigers, 77-37, Wednesday night in Cedar City.

Cedar goes to 5-0 in region play (a half-game ahead of second-place Snow Canyon) and 11-3 overall with the easy win. The Redmen out-scored Hurricane in every quarter. Leading 37-22 at the half, Cedar turned on the afterburners in the third quarter, upping the lead to an astonishing 61-29 differential.

The Redmen are rolling through Region 9 play, having won all but one game by double-figures. Cedar beat Desert Hills by 13, Dixie by 22, Canyon View by 15 and now Hurricane by 40. The lone close game in region for Cedar was last week’s buzzer-beating victory at Snow Canyon

Hurricane shot just 29 percent from the floor in the game and Garet Cahoon was the lone Tiger in double-figures. He finished with 12 points and eight rebounds. Kaden Langston made three 3-pointers in the game for Hurricane, which is 1-13 overall and 0-6 in region play.

The Tigers have a bye Friday night and play at Dixie next Wednesday. The Flyers beat Hurricane by just two points back in December.

Cedar will look to stay undefeated in region play Friday night as the Redmen play host to Pine View.
