Department of Commerce announces new deputy director, Thomas A. Brady

SALT LAKE CITY – Francine A. Giani, Executive Director of the Utah Department of Commerce, announced Wednesday that Thomas A. Brady has been selected as the department’s new deputy director.

Brady has been with the Utah Division of Securities for three years as both a securities analyst and director of enforcement. In addition to his duties as an expert witness in securities cases, he is a special prosecutor designee for the Utah and Summit County Attorneys.

He graduated with a Juris Doctorate from Michigan State University College of Law, where he was chapter president of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and was a member of the Business Law Society. He earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science. A resident of Centerville, he is married with three children.

Effective immediately, Brady will replace Thad LeVar, who was recently appointed by Gov. Gary R. Herbert to serve on the Public Service Commission.

“The Department of Commerce is pleased to announce Thomas A. Brady as the agency’s new deputy director. (His) credentials as an attorney and as our Division of Securities’s head of enforcement makes him an ideal choice,” Giani said. “We are excited for Tom to begin his new role and confident he will hit the ground running as deputy director.”
