ST. GEORGE – The Wal-Mart Foundation has selected The Learning Center for Families to receive a $10,000 grant as part of its nationwide 12 Days of Giving holiday campaign.
The Learning Center for Families is a private nonprofit organization funded by grants and donations.
It provides educational and clinical services to vulnerable pregnant women, and children from birth to the age of five. These services are provided in part through weekly home visits that focus on improving children’s health and developmental outcomes and help families become better advocates for their children while achieving greater levels of self-sufficiency.
“We have helped more than 10,000 children since we began in 1993 and each one of our kids is a success story,” Executive Director Debbie Justice said. “Our local Wal-Mart stores and distribution center have been wonderfully supportive. Today, we are thrilled for the generous support from their national campaign.”
The grant will go towards purchasing materials for educational programs and specialized equipment for children with multiple disabilities.
