Warriors, Panthers capture road wins

Chandler Gines scored 13 points in his first game back after summer knee surgery and Nate Gottfredson dominated the paint as Snow Canyon went on the road and beat Canyon View 54-47 Wednesday night.

Gines, who has been rehabbing hard since going down during the summer AAU season, helped the Warriors steadily pull away against the Falcons, who were winless a year ago in region play.

One of the guys who stepped up in Gines’s absence, Brendon Truman, also had a nice game, hitting a 3-pointer and tallying 13 points himself.

But it was big man Nate Gottfredson who owned the day as the 6-foot-7 center dominated down low, scoring 14 points and going double-figures in rebounds as well.

The Warriors, 2-2 overall and 1-0 in region play, led by as many as a dozen, though Canyon View did pull to within three in the second half.

The Falcons, 4-5 and 0-1, got 14 points each from McCoy Johnson and Brady Barrett.

Pine View 61, Enterprise 48

Two things are becoming abundantly clear for the Pine View Panthers: Dallin Milne can really score and Kody Wilstead can really rebound.

Milne scored in the 20s for the third straight game (23 this time) and Wilstead had 13 points and 16 rebounds (after 21 last Saturday) as the Panthers cruised past the Wolves in Enterprise.

Nine different players scored for the Panthers, who shot the ball well. Pine View made 23 of 40 field goals (58 percent), including 6-10 3-pointers en route to the easy win.

Milne made all three of his trey attempts and Jack Bangerter hit 2 for 4 on his way to 10 points.

The Panthers, 4-1, start region play next Wednesday at home against Hurricane.
