  • Rick Kempa, writer
  • Kathie Hodge, oil, charcoal, gouache and watercolor artist

Each artist will present a minimum of three public outreach programs, presentations of performances of their own design while in residence. All are free, family-friendly and open to the public.

A panel of professional artists and administrators along with National Park Service representatives selected these artists from a pool of over total 220 applicants. The program welcomes not only artists who work in the long-honored traditions of representational landscape photography and painting, but encourages the involvement of artists working in new, experimental mediums.

While in residence, South Rim artists have the opportunity to live in the historic upstairs apartment of Verkamp’s Visitor Center and Museum Store. The North Rim space is a rustic two-room cabin in the cool shade of majestic Ponderosa pines.

Both programs will be accepting new artist proposals Feb. 1 to Apr. 1, 2013. For complete application process details and program information, visit the Artist-in-Residence website.
