Iron County Sheriff seeks public aid in identifying vehicle in gunfire incident

IRON COUNTY –Iron County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s aid in finding a vehicle involved in a gunfire incident on Nov. 23.

The Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday that deputies were dispatched to Beryl after receiving reports of gunfire on Nov. 23 around 10 p.m. Cedar City Dispatch center relayed reports of shots fired at the 7000 West – 200 North area in Beryl.

While en route, deputies were advised the shots were too close to dwellings. The shots came from a pickup truck that had conical (cone shaped), amber-colored lights on the cab. Dispatchers said the truck was leaving and was heading towards state Route 56 on 7200 at approximately 17 mph. They also said the suspect vehicle was last seen eastbound on SR-56.

Sheriff Mark Gower said three deputies responded to the incident, but none was able to pinpoint the vehicle allegedly involved. He did not know whether or not the individuals in the truck were spotlighting animals, hunting from the road, or shooting at homes in the area. Each activity is illegal and dangerous, Gower said.

If you have any information concerning this incident, please report the information promptly to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 435-867-7500. The Sheriff’s Office release states that information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of those responsible will be rewarded.
