Initial calls into county dispatch indicated the male subject, who was found to be the suspect, was outside the trailer of a 48-year-old man and was making threatening comments toward him. Dispatch received several calls from residents reporting what they believed to be gunshots.

Officers arrived and found the suspect at the scene and detained him for questioning. They located the other man inside his trailer with what appeared to be gunshot wounds to the side of his head and his shoulder/arm area. Medical units responded and the wounded man was transported in critical condition around 9:30 p.m. by Life Flight to a Las Vegas hospital.

As of 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, no change in the victim’s condition has been reported.

Investigators processed the scene and found evidence that is consistent with multiple gunshots being fired.

Investigators are currently looking into any possible motive to this shooting. The suspect was booked into jail for second degree felony aggravated assault. His bail was set at $100,000 cash.

The shooting victim listed in critical condition by authorities was first treated in the ambulance at the scene and then conveyed to Life Flight helicopter for transport to Las Vegas. Harrisburg, Utah, Nov. 27, 2012 | Photo by Chris Caldwell, St. George News.

According to Utah code, an assault is aggravated when it uses a dangerous weapon (definitions apply) or other means or force likely to produce death or serious bodily injury.

The investigation is ongoing.

Neighbors of the individuals involved in the incident said they do not know them very well, and indicated at least one of the men involved has recently moved into the area. Booking information on the suspect lists him as transient with no current address.

Mr. Clemens, are you saying the name Horizon Trailer Park given us is incorrect or outdated?

  • Michael McNaney January 17, 2013 at 1:23 pm

The name of the park was both incorrect in name and purpose.

The name was St. George RV resort and it is not a trailer park. It is a RV park. Not permanent residency.

Directly after this incident it was sold to KOA.

    Late but correct.

    I am the victim.
