Jubilee of Trees fundraises for Dixie Regional trauma center

ST. GEORGE – The  Jubilee of Trees features one of the largest showcases of custom designed Christmas trees and wreaths between Salt Lake City and Las Vegas. The Jubilee has been held annually for the past 31 years the week before Thanksgiving. This time-honored family event provides a great way to launch the holiday season.

More than 100 custom-designed trees provide the backdrop for several special events held within The Dixie Center in St. George. Whether you like concerts, fashion shows, galas, or have children who would love to picnic with Santa, The Jubilee holds something for everyone.

The event is organized by the Foundation of Dixie Regional Medical Center and is the premier fundraising event for the hospital.

Kerry Hepworth, chief development officer for the Foundation, said this year’s focus is on upgrading Dixie Regional’s trauma center services. Currently the hospital has as a Level 3 trauma center, and is moving toward becoming a Level 2. What’s the difference? Once the hospital achieves a Level 2 status, many trauma victims – particularly those with head trauma or experiencing a stroke – will no longer have to be airlifted to Las Vegas or Salt Lake City for treatment. They will be able to stay close to home, thus saving precious time spent in transit.

“(Time is) the difference between life in a wheel chair and life in stride,” Hepworth said.
