ST. GEORGE – This Sunday, the World Peace Gardens nonprofit organization is celebrating five years of improving the community through self-discovery and giving back.
WPG began its journey on Nov. 11, 2007, when Daniel Pettegrew, an environmental designer and entrepreneur, woke up that morning and knew it was time to focus more of his life’s energy on creating world peace. In the years since, WPG has grown to include weekly gatherings at Green Valley Spa and a range of events that have introduced hundreds of dynamic speakers to more than 20,000 people.
One of WPG’s main goals is to go beyond talking about world peace to literally creating it through community development. To make WPG a success, every member volunteers their time, talents and resources giving back. Next on our horizon is a permaculture agricultural project in southeastern Utah.
To celebrate what WPG said is amazing progress over the last five years, the organization invites the public to a “birthday” party this Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at 1736 West Canyon View Drive in St. George. Cake, drinks and other refreshments will be served.
WPG’s weekly gatherings are held every Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at the Green Valley Spa. Gatherings are nonsectarian and encourage inner peace, world peace and sustainable living. Admission is free and all members of the public are welcome.
