St. George Councilwoman Gail Bunker addresses DSC Business Ethics Forum

ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah’s Udvar-Hazy School of Business continues its 2012-13 Business and Ethics Forum series at 12 p.m. this Thursday with a presentation on art and business by Gail Bunker.

A graduate of Southern Utah University, Bunker has been the concert manager for the DSC Celebrity Concert Series and the Tanner Amphitheatre Summer Concert Series for the past 27 years. Bunker has also served on the City Council for the City of St. George since 2004. She received the Utah Arts Leadership Award in 2008 and is currently a committee member for the St. George Art Museum, Art Around the Corner and the Community Education Channel.

Bunker’s presentation will address the benefits of art in the community, specifically the enrichment DSC’s concerts bring to not only the campus, but to St. George as a whole. She will also discuss her tenure as a Councilwoman and how business ethics play a key role in creating and enforcing municipal policy.

The forum series, which was created by former DSC president Dr. Robert Huddleston in 2006, is aimed at students, business professionals and any member of the public interested in learning more about the relationship between ethics and business practices. Each speaker will lecture on business matters in their respective professions and have been asked to integrate ethics into the discussion.

The series will continue with presentations by local businessman Jeff Stewart on Nov. 1 and DSC alumnus and Best Buy department manager Greg Whitehead on Nov. 15. Utah State Legislator Brad Last will wrap up the semester schedule with a presentation Dec. 6. All will be held in the Boeing Auditorium (Room 121) of the Udvar-Hazy Business Building on the DSC campus.
