IRON COUNTY – The 2,458-acre Roundabout Fire is currently 50 percent contained. Fire crews are making progress and full containment is expected by 8 p.m. Thursday.
Located in the Horse Valley area approximately 20 miles northwest of Cedar City, the fire was first reported on Monday around 4:20 p.m. It is presently smoldering with trees torching within the interior.
Values currently at risk from the blaze include grazing land, sage grouse habitat, the Kern River Pipeline Corridor and communications sites.
The public is being asked to avoid the Kern River Pipeline Road, the Lost Springs Road and the Horse Valley Road at this time.
No injuries or evacuations have been reported in connection with the fire.
There are approximately 86 personnel involved in fighting the fire.
