Dixie National Forest’s Red Canyon closes for facilities improvements

ST. GEORGE – The Red Canyon Visitor Center and Campground in the Powell Ranger District of the Dixie National Forest closed Saturday for the remainder of the 2012 and early 2013 season due to needed facility improvements.

The closure will eliminate public safety concerns during the construction. Improvements are being made to the picnic area, restrooms, septic system, trails and interpretive education panels, which will enhance future visitor experience.

The Red Canyon Visitor Center and Campground will reopen on Mar. 29, 2013, in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Forest Service Visitor Center.
