Hunting season reminder: Discharging firearms in city limits is prohibited

ST. GEORGE – With hunting season about to start, the City of St. George would like to remind area residents and visitors of the city ordinance that applies to hunting.

City of St. George Ordinance 5-4-2 prohibits discharge of firearms or weapons (including bow and arrow) within city limits.  Deer and other large game frequently enter city limits through wash and river corridors and undeveloped open spaces.  For those who enjoy hunting, this may be a very tempting situation.  However, city officials are asking outdoor enthusiasts to practice safety first by hunting in designated hunting areas only.

Areas within the City of St. George known to have frequent deer and other large game traffic are considered to be restricted and will be patrolled by police officers as well as Division of Natural Resources officers.  If you hear or see any violations, please contact the St. George Police Department 435-627-4300.

In the city I only use my blowgun and throwing knives for hunting. I will not go into the reasons for why I do this.
