ENTERPRISE – Lightning sparked a new fire approximately two miles northwest of Enterprise Wednesday evening.
Called the North Hills Fire, it is 300 acres in size and is the largest of eight fires that started on land overseen by the Bureau of Land Management. It is currently 25 percent contained.
A radio tower and four other structures are currently threatened by the fire.
Nick Howell, the North Hills Fire information officer, said firefighters were making good progress on meeting containment objectives. No road closures or evacuations have been ordered at this time.
Resources used in combating the fire include 10 fire engines, one water tender, two hand crews, one dozer, and various overhead. Around 90 firefighters are assigned to the fire.
The Alger Fire, which was reported on Wednesday evening, is now 100 percent contained.
