DIAMOND VALLEY – Lightning is suspected to have triggered a fire near Diamond Valley Wednesday afternoon.

Called the “Alger Fire,” officials with Color County Interagency Fire Management Dispatch said the fire was currently between 8-10 acres in size. The fire is located on a plateau east of Diamond Valley and has yet to threaten any structures in the area.

Currently six fire engines and their accompanying fire crews are dealing with the blaze, though helicopters and aircraft have also dropped retardant on the fire throughout the day.

The Alger Fire was 100 percent contained as of Thursday morning.
