ST. GEORGE – World-class pianist William Joseph, a protégé of music icon David Foster, will perform a benefit concert for Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts, Thursday, Aug. 2 at The Ledges.

The concert will include a light dinner in the scenic Fish Rock Grill at The Ledges Golf Club, at 1585 W Ledges Parkway, in St. George, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets are $37.50 and can be purchased by calling The Ledges at 435-634-4650.  All proceeds benefit the Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts.

Jason Bonham, instrumental music director for the Performing Arts School, said the benefit will help raise money for the newly planned Music Conservatory at Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts, as well as scholarships for Tuacahn’s summer music camps, which serve students from across the nation.

While in St. George, Joseph will offer master classes to local music students. To learn more about his master classes join him on Facebook.

Joseph is one of the most electrifying pianists and composers of our time. His rare virtuosity and passion left Foster mesmerized when he first heard him play. A chance encounter with Foster in Arizona sent Joseph’s career skyrocketing.

Foster co-produced Joseph’s first two albums “Beyond” and “Within” on the Warner Bros. label, opening the way for Joseph to embark on several concert tours with such well-known stars such as Josh Groban, Il Divo and Clay Aiken.

Foster’s interest and professional collaboration with Joseph also ushered in special appearances with world-class artists John Mayer, Natalie Cole, Barbra Streisand, Kenny G, Alecia Keys, Beyonce, Michael Buble and scores of others.

What sets Joseph apart from other pianists is his matchless ability to create soaring, original melodies that capture the best elements of two genres –classical and pop – with show-stopping precision and emotion. Originally focusing on writing for piano, Joseph broadened his composition interests to include full orchestration – with all of its technical complexities.

During the St. George benefit, Joseph will play favorites from his hit CDs including the title song “Beyond,” “Standing the Storm,” “Apasionada,” and “Asturias,” to the sweeping, almost cinematic landscape of “Once Upon Love” and “A Mother’s Heart.”

The Tuacahn concert is part of a two week “Playing for Good” tour, during which Joseph will perform benefit concerts throughout Utah.  Other charities he is supporting include The Dove Center in St. George, helping women and children, and the World of Difference, helping the people of Africa.
