MOHAVE COUNTY, Ariz. – The Plateau Fire is now 100 percent contained, while the Hobble Complex Fire remains at 75 percent containment. Both fires are located on the Arizona Strip and were triggered by lightning strikes on July 11. Smoke from both fires was blown into St. George July 12 by high winds.
The Hobble Complex Fire is 35 miles south of St. George. The Plateau Fire is 65 miles south of St. George near the Grand Wash Cliffs on the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument.
The Hobble Complex Fire is currently 34,596 acres. The Plateau Fire is approximately 3,175 acres. One acre is equivalent to one football field.
Both fires have received significant precipitation throughout the activity of the fires.
No road closures or evacuations are in effect at this time.
