WASHINGTON – A Washington City man was arrested on Wednesday for the alleged sexual abuse of a child.
The Washington City Police Department arrested a 33-year-old male on suspicion of the forcible sexual assault of a child.
Ed Kantor, the public information officer for the Washington City Police, said a complaint issued to the police alleged that between May and July the victim was sexually assaulted by a relative. An investigation revealed the incidents occurred in Washington City and Washington County. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office co-investigated the case with Washington City Police.
As a result of the investigation, the suspect was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on three counts of first degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child, and three counts of second degree felony forcible sexual abuse of a child. A child in this instance is someone over the age of 14.
Bail has been set at $90,000.
Kantor said there are no known additional victims at this time, and that the investigation is ongoing.
