PANACA, Nev. – Firefighters continued to make progress on the White Rock Fire located along the Nevada-Utah border.  The fire has been GPS-mapped at 6,355 acres and is expected to be fully contained June 9.

“The cool weather has aided firefighter’s efforts,” Incident Commander John Kidd said.   “We ask the public to keep an eye out for additional traffic that will be on the roads today as firefighters travel to their next assignment.”

Current suppression resources include 12 crews, five helicopters, seven engines, one dozer and three water tenders.  Today’s efforts by the 387 people assigned to the fire will focus on completing fire perimeter line and reinforcing and holding existing line.

The fire is located in steep, rugged terrain on public land managed by the BLM’s Nevada’s Ely District Office and BLM Utah’s Color Country District Office as well as a small amount of private land in Utah.
