Murray man arrested after hitting teen with motor home

WASHINGTON – A teen* was taken to the hospital after being involved in a hit-and-run collision Wednesday.

According to a press release from the Washington City Police Department, officers responded to a reported hit-and-run auto-pedestrian collision at the Washington Wal-mart parking lot around 11 p.m.

An investigation into the incident determined that four juveniles* were talking near one of their vehicles in the Wal-mart parking lot.  Witnesses and other information obtained by the police indicated that a motor home driven by a 42-year-old Murray man approached the juveniles and intentionally attempted to hit the juveniles with the motor home multiple times.

Before the juveniles could get out of the way, a male juvenile was struck by the motor home and pinned between the motor home and a parked vehicle.  He was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center.

The driver of the motor home then left the parking lot and was involved in a second traffic collision in St. George.  That collision was investigated by the St. George Police Department which led to the driver being arrested** for driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both.

The driver** was later arrested by Washington City Police officers for the incident in the Wal-mart parking lot.

The offender was booked into the Washington County Jail on one count of aggravated assault with a weapon causing substantial bodily injury; three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon; one count of leaving the scene of an injury accident; and one count of reckless driving.

Combined with the arrest for DUI, the driver’s bail is set at over $52,000.
