ST. GEORGE – Things are getting interesting for the Dixie Rebels semi-proteam. Today they will host their biggest game of the season, thus far. The Utah Stealth (4-1) are coming to St. George to try and secure a second place finish and a bye in the first week of the playoffs, by beating the Dixie Rebels (5-1).
The Stealth have one of the best defenses in the league as they have only allowed 15.4 points per game. The Rebels, however, have averaged 461 yards and 35.3 points per game. They have the best trio of running backs who have the most, second most, and fifth most rushing yards in the league respectively with Sione Tapuosi, Kyle Coop, and Stephan Cook. All three running backs average over 8 yards per carry. They also have a solid core of receivers, led by tight end Andy Stokes and wide receiver Brennan Adams.
Adams, who is playing in his first year with the Rebels, was on Blake’s Take Thursday and said the Rebels welcomed him in and made him feel at home even though he was the new guy. Their ability to play as a team has been a solid advantage for them throughout the season.
A win tonight, combined with another home victory in their final game of the season, will lock all of their playoff games into St. George – which would go a long way towards getting that third consecutive Rocky Mountain Football League Championship since the Rebels always seem to fill up the stands at Dixie High School creating a very real home-field advantage.
